Research Recruitment Support

Because clinical research involves volunteers, recruiting research study participants is a critical and necessary component for the success of any protocol. The CTSA Service Center offers recruiting assistance in the following areas:

  • Developing successful recruiting strategies using internal and external resources
  • Writing, designing and producing materials to recruit research participants (newspaper ads, flyers, posters, brochures, etc.)
  • Posting your research study on clinicaltrials.gov and the Mayo clinical trials website

The CTSA Communications Coordinator and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) must review and approve all internal and external recruitment materials that will be seen or heard by a research participant. Meeting with the CTSA Communications Coordinator early in the application process can help an investigator, study coordinator, nurse or other study personnel to consider the best recruiting strategies, write text that complies with IRB requirements and develop an appropriate budget for recruiting materials and activities. It will also help avoid delays in recruiting due to substandard communications materials.
