Voices of the Community

It is also a goal of the ODCR to be a listening post for the community. Many time's health care institutions are not aware of what may be going on in their own communities. We have found that in our own communities, our minority populations have several health concerns and we are working tirelessly to meet them. Members of the community have asked for the following services:

• Education on how to access medical services, utilize interpreters, social workers, and receive care when uninsured/underinsured
• Education on African American Women's Health issues and clinical research
• Education on gall stones in the Hmong community
• Dialogue/gatherings for Somali women regarding c-sections

The ODCR worked collaboratively with the community members to address these concerns and to aid in improving the health of our most vulnerable communities.
