One of the primary goals of the CTSA is to move research out of the laboratory and into the lives of the patients we serve. The Mobile CRU, the latest addition to Mayo’s clinical research enterprise, does just that – it brings all the expertise and resources of the research lab directly to the bedside of acutely ill patients throughout the Mayo Clinic Rochester campus. Specially trained research nurses and support staff will conduct protocols, secure specimens, administer medications and gather critical data at the bedside of hospitalized patients, ensuring that hospital nursing staff can continue to concentrate on their first priority: providing prompt, safe and effective patient care.
This new unit has ambitious goals: as the Mobile CRU adds staff and services, it will expand to 24/7 coverage at both Mayo Clinic Rochester hospitals, and then move beyond the walls of the institution into the neighborhoods and communities we serve.
