What is an Epidemiologist?

An Epidemiologist will attempt to:

• Improve knowledge of the causes, natural history and outcome of disease in the community and in Mayo Clinic's practice.
• Help to define population needs as well as efficacious and cost-effective approaches to delivering specific procedures and technologies.

Epidemiologists in the CTSA Service Center can assist with:

• Choosing your study design
• Developing and focusing your study question
• Selecting your study population, including discussing available Mayo populations appropriate to your investigation
• Assist you in understanding the Rochester Epidemiology Project (REP) procedures
• Writing smaller protocols and grants
• Writing abstracts and papers
